Patrick O’Rourke became interested in video games, technology and writing at a young age while scouring the pages of retro gaming magazines like Nintendo Power and Electronic Gaming Monthly.
After graduating from Ryerson University's journalism program, he worked for three years at Postmedia as the company's national technology editor. He then took on a role at the National Post/Financial Post as a web producer, in charge of transferring paper content to the internet and evening homepage management. During his time at the National Post and Postmedia he reported original content related to gaming, internet trends, cord cutting and file-sharing.
He's interviewed a variety of tech industry executives, reviewed hundreds of games, covered the PlayStation 4's reveal, GDC, E3, Gamescom, the Game Awards, the Canadian Video Game Awards, and various local Toronto technology related events. He also wrote a nationally syndicated weekly video game column called Press Start for Postmedia.
Patrick has freelanced technology and gaming related articles for MobileSyrup, the Canadian Video Game Awards, National Post, Financial Post, Post Arcade, Nerdy Stuff, Bitmob (now Gamesbeat), Techvibes, PlayBoy and a wide range of of other publications
Patrick currently works full-time as a staff writer at MobileSyrup, Canada's largest independent tech news website, where he covers mobile gaming, smartphones and virtual reality.
